Fentanyl Citrate, a CLASS II Controlled Substance as classified by the Drug Enforcement Agency

Swedish Hospital in Denver, Colorado, recently advised 2,900 patients and former patients to be tested for HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C. A surgical tech was taken into custody for stealing a syringe full of the narcotic Fentanyl and replaced it with another undisclosed substance. This prompted the hospital to terminate the surgical technician’s employment and order testing for patients under the care of the hospital during the tech’s employment. The man is being charged with tampering with a consumer product and obtaining a controlled substance by deceit and subterfuge. He faces up to ten years in prison if convicted.
