The number of nurses, as well as complaints regarding nurses, is on the rise in Kansas. To deal with the upswing of cases, the Kansas Board of Nursing approved the hiring of two additional investigators. According to a recent article, the board’s director said the majority of complaints were in regards to the “abuse of alcohol or drugs, both diverted prescription medications and “street drugs.” The board’s director referred to the increasing number of such cases as a “public safety issue,” as nurses must not be impaired while administering medical care.
